U.S.President Donald Trump is planning to abolish the Environmental Protection Agency, says a White House aide.

Myron Ebell, who led the newly elected Donald Trump's EPA transition team, says EPA employees adhering to Obama-era policies should be "very worried."

Ebell says the EPA's research, data and reports are likely to remain on its website but that climate education could be changed or "withdrawn."

Ebell also suggested that an automobile fuel-efficiency-standards review that was hastily pushed through by the Obama administration could very well be reconsidered.

President Trump said during the 2016 Presidential campaign that he would like to abolish the EPA or "leave a little bit." This, Ebell says, was "an aspirational goal" best accomplished by incremental dismantling instead of executive orders. "To abolish an agency requires not only thought but time because you have to decide what to do with certain functions that Congress has assigned to that agency," Ebell says.
